Dr. Rachel Coyer grew up in the small western Pennsylvania
town of Slippery Rock. She attended Bucknell University (where
she also had the opportunity to spend time in Ecuador studying
Spanish and tropical ecology) and graduated with honors with
a degree in cell biology/biochemistry.
After receiving her V.M.D. from the University of Pennsylvania,
Rachel went to work as a small animal doctor in Maine but,
missing her hometown, moved back to Pennsylvania to work
nearer to her family. Though she loves her family, she realized
she missed the Philadelphia area more and sought out a practice
that would bring her closer to the city—and settled
in to DAMC nicely in 2008.
Rachel lives with two cats (bratty Alba and shy Ellie) and
her dog, Olive. In her free time, she loves to read and drink
tea, enjoy outdoor activities, and dream of new travel adventures.
